Join friends, family, and band mates of Stephen Sorenson on Sunday, November 30, for a benefit concert that will celebrate the musical talents of local Santa Clarita bands, while helping out a resident in need.
Sorenson, a Santa Clarita native, has been a professional working musician involved in numerous local bands such as “The Ladykillers,” and “The Nowhere Band,” a Beatles tribute band.
Sorenson recently found out that the ocular melanoma (cancer of the eye) he battled and defeated at the age of 18 has metastasized to his liver, and is in an advanced stage.
As a working musician, and consequently an independent contractor, time spent away from music gigs in order to receive treatment for the cancer will make earning income especially difficult.
In an effort to help out a friend in need, KHTS Program Director Jason Endicott, who has been friends with Sorenson since their Hart High school days 15 years ago, and other friends have organized ‘The Concert for Stephen” to raise money for his treatment and everyday costs Sorenson will encounter as he takes time off time from work to battle the disease.
The concert will be a celebration of music featuring three bands; “Acoustic Soul,” an acoustic cover band of 60’s and 70’s songs, ‘The Nowhere Band,” where Sorenson fills George Harrison’s shoes, and “The Ladykillers” an infamous rock band.
As a singer/songwriter, Sorenson will also do a set of his own original material.
The show will begin at 5:00 pm in Hart High school auditorium and there will be a suggested donation of $20.00 at the door.
