During Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Pro-tem Marsha McLean appointed business owner Lisa Eichman to the Planning Commission. Diane Trautman, who had served on the Commission since 2002, was not reappointed.
McLean praised Eichman’s community efforts and business experience. Eichman co-owns Gymnastics Unlimited and is an enrolled agent with the tax services firm Eichman and Eichman.
“I was extremely impressed with Lisa,” said McLean. “She has been to many Planning Commission meetings and has a strong environmental stance.”

McLean said that Eichman had been active with both junior colleges and PTAs, and has previously done work to build and maintain playgrounds in local schools.
Missing the cut was Diane Trautman, the Commission Chair. During the November City Council election, Trautman did not support candidates Frank Ferry or Laurene Weste, a move community members believe might have led to her exit.
McLean had no comment on the matter, but added, “Diane has done a very good job on the Planning Commission.”
McLean also appointed Dianna Boone to the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission, Dr. Michael Millar to the Arts Commission and Henry Schultz to the OSPD Panel.
Planning Commissioners Dennis Ostrom and Tim Burkhart were both up for re-election as well, but kept their seats after receiving nominations from Mayor Weste and Councilman Ferry, respectively.
Mayor Weste’s other appointments included Ruthann Levinson to the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission, Paul Strickland to the Arts Commission and John Dortch to the OSPD Panel; Councilman Ferry’s other appointments included Chris Fall to the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission, Sandy Fisher to the Arts Commission and Wendy Langhans to the OSPD Financial Accountability and Audit Panel.
