Lisa Wicall of Wicall’s, a local carpet store, has been in business for 42 years.
Started by Lisa’s father, Bill, back in 1968, the carpet store began serving the Santa Clarita Valley when there were only 12,000 residents. As the city grew so did the store’s business.
Asked how it feels to be in business for so long despite a bad economy, “It feels great, we’re definitely hanging on,” said Wicall.
Wicall’s almost went out of business during the economic downturn but she stayed in business by tightening her budget and moving locations.
Moving to a larger location allowed her to purchase in bulk. This allowed her to pass the savings to her customers.
Her main strategy is to make the customer happy and she also finds her customers are children and even the grandchildren of original customers.
Along with her only employee, Oscar Almanza, she is still serving the Santa Clarita Valley
Wicall’s is located at 26635 Valley Center Drive near Soledad Canyon and Golden Valley Roads.
