Local Chanukah Celebrations Begin

260px-Star_of_David.svgTonight is the first night of Chanukah, the Jewish celebration that lasts for eight nights to commemorate the rededication of the Temple of Jerusalem. It’s a time to celebrate Judaism and to reaffirm Jewish beliefs.

Tonight at 6:00 p.m., there will be a large celebration with the lighting of the Stevenson Ranch Community Menorah will be lit. The menorah is located on Stevenson Ranch Parkway and Holmes Place.

On Sunday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. the Santa Clarita Jewish Community Chanukah Party will take place at the Westfield Valencia Town Center

“The Chanukah Party is a community wide celebration that a lot of people show up for,” Rabbi Mark Blazer of Temple Beth Ami said. He added that there would be arts, crafts, food, music, and menorah lighting with Mayor Laurene Weste.
