Local Church Helps Keep Fire Victims Warm

As the weather continues to cool down fire victims find themselves in need of the bare necessities.
The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Santa Clarita Valley
has set a goal to collect 600 gently used or new coats and jackets to help warm 600 people who lost their homes in the recent Sylmar wildfires.

Donations will be accepted starting Sunday, November 23, and on every Sunday through January 4, 2009. Donations can be dropped off at the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market St., Newhall, between 9:30 and 11:30 AM.

The church will give the coats to Goodwill, and through the its partnership with The American Red Cross, fire victims will receive a voucher for a coat or jacket at the Goodwill store in Sylmar.
Donors will be given a charitable donation receipt from the church, if desired. For further information, contact UU of SCV at (661) 254-7866
