Local Company To Host Hot Doggers’ Wedding Vow Renewal

Valencia-based Trigg Laboratories will help Sonny and Sharie Knight, former Valencia residents and now owners of a world-famous hot dog stand, renew their vows Wednesday.

The Knights own West Virginia’s Hillbilly Hot Dog Stand that has been featured on the Food Network and the Travel Channel. The couple frequently renews their vows, which has become a competition of late since their television appearances.

The couple and the company chose Dec. 12 to coincide with 12/12/12 on the calendar. They took to their company’s Facebook page and created a contest – give the Knights a unique place to renew their vows, they’ll provide their famous restaurant fare, the couple said.

Trigg Laboratories competed to host the 30th vow renewal for the Knights. The company’s online video submission convinced the couple that their Industrial Center factory – renamed “Chapel…for Everlasting Love” for the Knights – was the perfect place to renew their vows for the 30th time.

“The fact that they sent us a video submission and hit home many of the things about us and our hot dogs…it was the perfect choice,” the couple said.

“Trigg Laboratories is so excited to host Sonny and Sharie as they renew their vow to love each other,” Jennifer Martsolf, vice president of marketing at Trigg Laboratories said Friday.

In addition to providing a specially appointed chapel for the “Wedding Weenie Wednesday” ceremony, Trigg Laboratories will offer Sonny and Sharie a full celebration at the company’s Valencia headquarters, complete with an officiate, a band and, of course, products to take home.

Sonny and Sharie Knight met in Valencia, married and launched their renowned restaurant, Hillbilly Hot Dogs, in 1999. Sonny Knight managed the Valencia Auto Spa and Car Wash for over three years, where he first met his future wife.

“Hopefully our old friends will come out and celebrate with us on Wednesday,” Sonny Knight said.

Hillbilly Hot Dogs, located in two locations of West Virginia, was featured on Guy Fieri’s popular show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.” The Knights moved there in 1999 after meeting in Valencia.

The restaurant is home to the infamous “Homewrecker” – a 15-inch, all-beef hot dog covered with:sautéed peppers, onions, jalapenos, habanero sauce, nacho cheese, homemade chili sauce, mustard, coleslaw,  lettuce, tomatoes and shredded cheese.

An eating competition will be held to challenge wedding patrons – eating the massive “Homewrecker” and all its ingredients in under 12 minutes.
