Katie Boggs takes home prizes on one of Barker’s last shows

Katie Boggs has wanted to be on The Price Is Right since she was a kid. So when she got her standby ticket, she was willing to go the extra mile to make certain she got on.

She is a local girl, who works for KHTS at both the Canyon Country studio and Community Resource Station in the mall.

So at 4:00pm the day before the show, she camped out on the sidewalk in front of the studio. And it paid off too, she was number ten in the standby line, and she eventually made it into the studio.

Few know that going from the gate to the studio is a six hour process. The show’s producers interview fourteen people at a time to determine who makes it to the studio audience.

Once Katie made it past the interviews, she was shocked to hear her name called as one of the first four contestants.

After winning a chance to move into the game, she played “Let It Roll” which involves a set of dice with prizes instead of numbers. One of the prizes was a Ford Focus, however in order to win that, Katie had to roll five consecutive “cars” on the dice.

Well, for the first time in thirty-five years on the Price Is Right, Katie did just that, winning the car outright.

She then went on to spin the wheel, spinning a 95 on her first turn, getting her into the Showcase.
[view:node_ad=5]The main finale, the Showcase pits two contestants against each other to bid on whole sets of merchandise. Katie chose to bid on a set that included a Jacuzzi, living room set and fine china. She won this as well.

All said and done, Katie went home with an estimated $34,000 worth of merchandise. Of course, taxes must be paid on the items, a thought to which Katie just shrugs. “More than anything I just wanted to be on the show,” she says. “The first thing I said when I got up there was ‘Don’t make me cry Bob!’”
