Local High School Marching Bands Score At Rampage Competition

In only its third year of competition, the marching band
from West Ranch
High School has won Sweepstakes as
the top scoring band in the annual Rampage Field Show Tournament hosted by Hart
High School’s Marching Regiment at
College of the Canyons on Nov. 1.

[view:node_ad=5]West Ranch, which competes in Division 3A based on band
size, earned the Sweepstakes award with an overall score of 83.85, out of a
possible 100. West Ranch also took Sweepstakes awards for Auxiliary, High Visual,
High General Effect, High Music and Band.

 

Runner-up in overall score was Saugus
High School, with a combined score
of 78.95. Saugus won first place
for band and color guard in Division 3A.

and West Ranch set the stage for a Division 3A showdown at the upcoming Southern
CaliforniaHart
High School is well positioned to take
the Southern California field show championship hosted by the Southern
California School Band & Orchestra Association. Hart District schools are expected
to place in the top two standings in that competition and overall championship for the
seventh year in a row.

 

Canyon High
School, which competes in Division 2A Black,
earned first place for color guard and second place for band at the Rampage. Valencia
High School, which competes in the
same division, earned second place for color guard and fourth place for band.

 

Golden Valley High
School brought home the school’s first Rampage
trophy by earning third place for bands in Division 3A. Golden
Valley also earned sixth place in color guard.

 

Highest score for the day was posted by Hart
High School which, as the host
school, did not accept any trophies for its performance.

 

The competition drew 33 bands from as far away as Bakersfield.
All six Hart District comprehensive high schools participated in the event and
all six were among the day’s trophy winners.
