Local Libraries Offer Free Interactive Homework Help

library_ccThe Santa Clarita Public Library’s three locations in Valencia, Newhall and Canyon Country now offer free, interactive academic assistance for students and adults who need help with homework or other learning pursuits.

The free service, called Brainfuse, provides live, online tutoring and specialized resources for kindergarten to adult learners.

Brainfuse’s most interactive service, HelpNow, provides live tutoring sessions every Monday through Sunday between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. Subjects include math, science, Spanish, social studies, reading and writing, PSAT/SAT, ACT, AP and state standardized tests.

Students who need extra guidance can submit their requests or questions to the 24/7 Homework Question Center or receive constructive feedback on their essays through the 24-Hour Writing Lab.

library_newhallIn addition to these resources, Brainfuse offers Flashbulb, a program that allows students to create digital flashcards, which are accessible on both computers and mobile devices. Brainfuse users can also interact in a virtual classroom called Meet, or record their notes for future reference using the Brainwave study tool.

Adult learners have access to testing support services and live, professional academic coaching in writing and skills-building exercises. Brainfuse also offers employment services, including live resume and cover letter assistance from certified tutors, as well as U.S. citizenship preparation and instruction in how to use Microsoft Office programs.

Learners can access the Brainfuse website through santaclaritalibrary.com by using the barcode number found at the bottom of a free library membership card.

There’s also a Foreign Language Center that offers support for Spanish-speaking residents.
