A Warning For Residents To Use Caution When Traveling Along Our SCV Washes
[view:node_ad=5]Bob Robertson was walking his two Labradors yesterday evening, when he encountered an aggressive mountain lion.
The encounter began when one of his dogs went into some brush. Bob whistled for the dog when he heard a scuffle in the brush and out it came, only with a large mountain lion on its tail.
Having experience in the wilderness, Bob tried to look large and yelled, but the lion didn't back down. He then started throwing large rocks. When he realized the lion was focusing on him, he made his way up to the road, keeping the mountain lion from attacking.
When a truck came by, Bob was able to flag them down. He and the dogs ran along side the truck, blocking the lion's view to escape. The lion eventually went back into the wash.
Fortunately, Bob was unhurt and the one lab suffered minor cuts, and the Sheriff's and Department of Fish & Game were notified. Bob expressed a sincere concern for his life and a warning for those who use the washed near the Sand Canyon area to exercise extreme caution.
