Local Students Ready For “Discovering Careers” Weekend

More than 50 employers will be at College of the Canyons this Saturday, April 25, to give students of all ages a chance to match their own interests with a potential career. Discovering Careers 2009 is a free career exploration fair with hands-on activities for students from 5 to 20 years old. It runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Valencia COC campus.

[view:node_ad=5]Interactive demonstrations and activities will allow students to try out job-related skills that pique their interest. This year’s expo is sponsored by the SCV School & Business Alliance, title sponsor Boston Scientific, media sponsor KHTS Radio, and academic sponsors the Hart School District, College of the Canyons and the Chancellor’s Office of the California Community College System.

In addition to the ongoing booth activities, this year’s expo will feature workshops on making money for teens, getting and holding a first job, careers in publishing and careers in engineering.

This year’s Discovering Careers Expo will be held in conjunction with Week of the Young Child activities, also scheduled for COC’s Valencia campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
