Local Teachers Take The Spotlight

khts_schools_chalkboardThe Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation will honor excellence in education at its Teacher Tribute, which honors teachers from the Santa Clarita Valley’s five public school districts.

With more than 1,450 teachers already honored, the event allows the community, businesses and individuals to recognize the outstanding teachers who educate our youth and the leaders of tomorrow.

Scheduled for April 22, the foundation will honor 54 exemplary teachers, one from each public school, who were selected by their peers for providing excellent classroom instruction and leadership.

The event will be held at The Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons.

Refreshments will begin, at 5:00 p.m. followed by the program at 6:30 p.m., which will include entertainment and speakers from local schools.

The SCV Education Foundation began as an Education Committee for the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce in 1984 to develop partnerships between local businesses and public schools.

In 1995 the SCV Education Foundation qualified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable Foundation.

The foundation also hosts programs like “READ WITH ME!,” Principal for a Day, and the Santa Clarita’s Literacy & Arts Festival.

Proceeds from the Teacher Tribute will support their programs and services.
