Local Teens Set To Compete In Golf Competition

Santa Clarita teens will represent California in golf competition

 

The Hanmi Bank Junior Open is coming up at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club – Valley Course in Santa Clarita, California.  Many local teens are set to represent the state at the competition, which takes place July 16-19.

TOM LO  • Los Angeles, Calif.-Class of 2008
Lo earned his first AJGA victory at the 2005 Hanmi Bank Junior Open when it was held at the Black Gold Golf Club after shooting an 8-under-par 208 tournament total…Lo earned a second victory that same year at the Greater Hartford Jaycees Junior presented by St. Paul Travelers…Finished second at the 2006 Mission Hills Desert Junior

JOHNNY MAC ARTHUR • Santa Clarita, Calif.-Class of 2008
Local junior Mac Arthur finished eighth at the Hanmi Bank Junior Open in 2006 after rounds of 72-77-69–218…Low AJGA tournament round came in 2007 at the ReBath Heather Farr Classic over Easter Weekend after shooting a 4-under-par 68…Finished second at the Newhall Land Cup/Foothill League Final to Nick Delio, a 2006 Rolex Junior All-American.

TYLER WEWORSKI  • Carlsbad, Calif.-Class of 2008
Finished sixth at the 2006 Hanmi Bank Junior Open with rounds of 70-72-75–217…Has an additional top-10 finish in AJGA competition from the 2007 Las Vegas Founders Junior Golf Championship presented by Meadow Gold Dairy where he tied for second after rounds of 67-66-73–206

Quick Facts

• Now in its third year, the Hanmi Bank Junior Open will be a 54-hole stroke play competition held at Robinson Ranch Golf Club – Valley Course.

• The tournament field is made up of 99 players – boys and girls ages 12-18 – representing eight states (California, Florida, Hawaii, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Washington).

• The field consists of 71 players from the state of California.

Hanmi Bank Junior Open Media Accommodations
The AJGA is prepared to make covering the Hanmi Bank Junior Open an enjoyable experience. Whether it be on-site professional communications staff or timely results, the AJGA is ready to honor all media requests. At the event, the AJGA will provide:

    • Information about the tournament and its participants leading up to the event
    • Assistance with player interviews before, during and after the tournament
    • A golf cart to make covering the tournament as easy as possible
    • Assistance locating players on the course
    • A recap with results after each tournament round in a timely manner

During the week of the tournament, the AJGA will have three communications representatives on hand to assist the media. These media officials will write an AP style recap and produce agate results each tournament day. These will then be faxed and/or e-mailed to all media outlets. Interviews with AJGA Tournament Directors, Tournament Chairmen and juniors can be conducted before/after every round.

The AJGA Web site, www.ajga.org , is a tremendous media resource. The tournament Web site, which is linked from the AJGA homepage, includes recaps, results, list of participants, tee times, live scoring, scorecards and sponsor information.
