After a four-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS, a longtime SCV resident’s family is asking for the community’s help.

A Santa Clarita Valley resident, realtor wife and mother, Loretta Rollins and her husband, Glen, were longtime contributors to the SCV, according to a friends and a fundraising page dedicated to helping the family.
Glen had part ownership in Omega Brokers and then opened Wild Wood Oaks Realty in Newhall, where Loretta worked alongside her husband. Wild Wood Oaks became RR Gable & later, Realty Executives, according to the site.
Born in 1946, Loretta Rollins was raised in what was at the time just a small unincorporated area north of Los Angeles called Saugus. Loretta enjoyed an active childhood driving her father’s truck and tagging along with the local boy scouts. A graduate of Hart High school in 1964 Loretta went on to work at the nearby Lockheed Martin and had a few other jobs before meeting her husband and getting married in the early 70s.
Loretta and Glen also went on to chair The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita’s charity auctions and where major contributors to the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, with a room there bearing the name of their children.
Unfortunately, a few years ago, Loretta began to experience some unexplained difficulties, and after a while it was confirmed to be the progressive neurodegenerative disease ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
She died shortly after, leaving behind two children and a legacy of service in the Santa Clarita Valley, friends said.
The Rollins family is still reeling from the loss of Loretta and is asking for assistance in providing her with a fitting funeral service for such a tremendous woman.
They ask that in lieu of flowers people just make a small donation to help give Loretta the final send off she deserves.
