Magic Mountain I/5 Construction Update

Here’s a report from the City of Santa Clarita regarding the road construction:

Major utility relocation work is continuing in the area of The Old Road and Magic Mountain Parkway. The contractor, Security Paving, is currently relocating a reclaimed line on The Old Road north of the Magic Mountain ParkwayMagic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road. Time Warner Cable and Valencia Water are installing their respective lines on Magic Mountain Parkway, between Tourney Road and the northbound off-ramp. intersection. This relocation work will continue through early August. Meanwhile, Castaic Lake Water Agency is working to extend two water lines on the northwest corner of

The anticipated construction of the roadway widening for Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road realignment, north of the intersection, will resume once the current portion of utility relocation work at the above-mentioned locations is complete. At that time, vehicles entering and exiting Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor theme parks will be diverted onto two lanes on the northside and two lanes on the southside of the existing Magic Mountain Parkway. This modification will provide the same number of lanes that are currently in place.  The theme park will remain open throughout the entire project construction.

The detour at the northbound Magic Mountain Parkway off-ramp and Interstate 5 will remain throughout the ramp widening and removal of utility lines to ensure that there will not be any additional detours needed throughout this construction.  As a suggested alternative for access to the Valencia Industrial Center, please use the off-ramp at State Route 126 and Newhall Ranch Road.

Detours and roadway signs are in place to assist the operational needs of the public in this area. Please proceed with caution. We appreciate motorists' continued patience and attention to the temporary change in roadway during this public improvement.

Please check the City of Santa Clarita's website at www.santa-clarita.com or the project hotline
(661) 290-2297 for any extended major lane closures, detours, or news associated with this project.

Thank you for your continued patience and support!
