Road to be complete by August this year.

The Old Road widening and realignment is in progress. All traffic has been detoured into the existing northbound lanes to accommodate construction. Grading efforts to provide smooth and safe transitions through the staged limits of work in the intersection are near completion. The paved road extension south of Magic Mountain Parkway is also near completion. Areas north of Magic Mountain Parkway are in progress.

The anticipated completion date is August 2008, at which time, traffic will be diverted to the new alignment and the construction to widen Magic Mountain Parkway between The Old Road and southbound on and off-ramps will begin.

The retaining walls at the southbound on and off-ramps are complete and the northbound Magic Mountain Parkway off-ramp retaining wall will be complete within the month. The detour at the northbound Magic Mountain Parkway off-ramp and Interstate 5 will remain throughout the ramp widening and removal of utility lines to ensure there will not be any additional detours needed after the construction in this area is complete. This work is anticipated to continue through August 2008. As a suggested alternative for access to the Valencia Industrial Center, please use the off-ramp at State Route 126 and Newhall Ranch Road.

The utility relocation work is 95 percent complete. Currently we have Time Warner Cable, Valencia Water, and Castaic Lake Water Agency working together relocating and installing water and cable lines as part of the overall Phase II improvements.

Please proceed with caution as there will be minimal intermittent nighttime work on Magic Mountain Parkway, between The Old Road and Tourney Road, for the various utility improvements between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m

The City project staff will be continuously coordinating with Caltrans’ traffic timing division on signal timing at Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road. Detours and roadway signs are in place to assist the operational needs of the public in this area. Please proceed with caution.
