The City of Santa Clarita has released the June update regarding progress made on the Magic Mountain/I-5 construction project. Below is the update:
Construction of the roadway for the existing Magic Mountain Parkway lanes will begin this month as part of The Old Road realignment. The theme park will remain open during construction.
Vehicles entering and exiting Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor theme parks will be diverted into two lanes on the northside, and two lanes on the southside of the existing Magic Mountain Parkway. This modification will provide the same number of lanes that are currently in place.
The Old Road realignment, north of the intersection, will resume once all underground utility work is complete. The anticipated completion date for the realignment of this area on The Old Road is August 2008.
All retaining wall construction is complete and all of the utility relocation work is nearing completion. As part of the overall Phase II improvements, Time Warner Cable is continuing with the installation of cable lines on Magic Mountain Parkway from the northbound I-5 off-ramp to Tourney Road. Valencia Water is also installing new water lines. Motorists are encouraged to proceed with caution, as there will be minimal intermittent nighttime work on Magic Mountain Parkway, between The Old Road and Tourney Road, for the various utility improvements between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.
Detours and roadway signs are in place to assist the operational needs of the public in this area. Please proceed with caution. We appreciate motorists' continued patience and attention to the temporary change in roadway during this public improvement.
Please check the City of Santa Clarita's website at www.santa-clarita.com or the project hotline (661) 290-2297 for any extended major lane closures, detours, or news associated with this project.
Thank you for your continued patience and support!
