September, 2007 update from the city of Santa Clarita
[view:node_ad=5]The installation of new AT&T conduit lines is complete. Later this month, AT&T will return to install the new wires and remove the substructure. This work was necessary for future development and improvements on the west side of Interstate 5.
The Gas Company and ExxonMobil are currently working on the south and north side of Magic Mountain Parkway east of Interstate 5 relocating their lines. This work is necessary due to the adjustment of the roadway profile. Anticipated completion of the relocation work is November 2007. The Gas Company is performing their work during nighttime hours.
Dewatering is underway in the Santa Clara River. Due to the slow progress of dealing with the nature of the riverbed, revisions were made to the dewatering operation in order to proceed with the rip rap construction. It is anticipated that the entire outlet structure be complete by the end of October 2007.
The completion of the box culvert underneath Magic Mountain Parkway west of The Old Road is ongoing. The completion of construction on the box is anticipated the end of October 2007.
Currently, work is being done on Phase 2 of the 11 phases for these improvements. The anticipated completion of this phase is fall 2007. This phase includes constructing portions of freeway on-ramps and off-ramps, the majority of the drainage box, and retaining walls. During this phase, existing ramps and local roadways (Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road) will be open for vehicular traffic.
