Man And Woman Of The Year Not A Popularity Contest

Awards center around charity, volunteerism.

Any association between red carpets and the man and women of the year nominees are not unfounded. At Tuesday night’s Press Party for the nominees, the red carpet will be out, and paparazzi will be snapping away.

But that doesn’t mean that the invitees are famous.

In fact, the whole reason behind the A-List treatment is specifically because the Awards celebrate those who are not praised enough for their work in the community.

24 nominees will be announced Tuesday for the award, and they were nominated by non-profit organizations.

The judging criteria will be things like; length of service and how many charities the particular person is involved in.

And at the big soirée on May 4th, the nominees will get to invite their families to a beautiful night, where each and every one of them gets recognized by various dignitaries.

The gigantic spotlight that is the Man and Woman of the year awards draws attention not only to the volunteer, but to the organization in which they tirelessly devote their time and energy to.

At the end of the night, one man and one woman will be chosen for the highest honor.

With that, they assume the role of striving to recognize the future nominees that make a difference in so many lives.

So a popularity contest? No. Unless of course, you count the votes of those on the receiving end of the volunteers’ work.
