Sheriff’s search and rescue teams worked into the night and resumed their search Tuesday morning for a man who left a suicidal text message for his friend before disappearing into the wilds surrounding Placerita Nature Center Monday.
Sgt. Cortland Meyers said that the man, described only as a male white in his 30s, left a text on a friend’s phone indicating he might want to end his life, prompting the friend to call deputies. The search began Monday around 5:30 p.m.
After the subject’s car was found at Placerita Nature Center, the search focused in that area. Search and Rescue volunteers mobilized and sheriff’s air units were called in Tuesday morning and the man was found, safe, at approximately 11 a.m.
