Two Santa Clarita operations are taken down by deputies.

On Monday morning, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies from the Santa Clarita station responded to a domestic violence call in the 25000 block of Baker Canyon Road in Canyon Country.

At the location, deputies determined that not only did a domestic violence incident occur, but one of the bedrooms in the house contained a sophisticated marijuana cultivation operation involving hundreds of plants.

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Headquarters Narcotics Bureau, assigned to the Santa Clarita area, were called in and the investigation continued. Shortly after, the investigation led to a second location in the 30700 block of Hume Canyon Road where deputies uncovered a second operation inside an industrial sized garage.

When the lengthy investigation concluded, deputies had uprooted hundreds of plants at various stages of growth and cultivation. Detectives claim that the large plants had an estimated street value of $600,000.

Deputies arrested Jason Cofer, MW/33, of Canyon Country and Rod Miller, MW/36, of Santa Clarita. Each faces potential felony charges of marijuana cultivation and possession of marijuana for sales. Both suspects were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

They posted $100,000 bond each and were released pending future court proceedings.
