May is Mental Health Month, a time when mental health organizations promote awareness of the importance of maintaining good mental health in order to maintain good physical health—and the importance of seeking help.

The homepage of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital website, www.henrymayo.com, offers a link to its free, confidential mental health screening website where visitors can participate in screenings for depression, general anxiety, adolescent depression, post-traumatic stress and bipolar disorder.

Now in its second year, Henry Mayo also offers a Spanish language version of the mental health screening. The program was instituted in response to a Community Needs Assessment study conducted by the hospital in 2010.

Henry Mayo Hospital offers the free online mental health screening as a public educational program. Based on the results of the screening, participants may want to follow up with a local mental health professional. Local mental health resources are listed on the website.
