McKeon votes with House majority that overrides President's veto.
Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) issued the following statement today after the House of Representatives successfully voted to override the President’s veto of H.R. 6331, the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008:
“Today’s veto override vote is a victory for Medicare patients nationwide, preventing payment cuts to doctors and ensuring continued care of seniors. While this bill is not perfect and does include troublesome cuts to the Medicare Advantage program, I was pleased to support our nation’s seniors and override the President’s veto.”
“I now look forward to working with my colleagues to improve both Medicare and the Medicare Advantage program, so seniors can continue to enjoy the enhanced benefits of private healthcare. With over 1.44 million Californians enrolled in Medicare Advantage, it is imperative we ensure their benefits continue.”
