McKeon Names Haueter as New Chief of Staff

Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-CA) announced today the appointment of Bob Haueter to serve as his Deputy Chief of Staff in his Santa Clarita District Office, and the promotion of long time aide Lew Stults to the post of District Director for the Antelope Valley and San Bernardino Valley.

"This is a team that brings the best of the new and the tried and true. My emphasis has always been on outreach to my constituents and I can't think of any two men who can better help me to do that than Bob and Lew," said McKeon.

Bob Haueter has served as Senior Deputy to Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich for the last six years with responsibility for federal legislation, airports, the California Coastal Commission and community affairs in the Santa Clarita Valley. Prior to that he served as Chief of Staff to the California State Assembly Republican Leader and has been active in the Santa Clarita community and the California Republican Party.

"Bob knows California and more important, he knows the 25th District. He's made a name for himself in our community and I am greatly pleased that he will now be bringing his experience and expertise to my team," added McKeon. In addition to his general duties in Santa Clarita, McKeon also mentioned that Haueter will be responsible for an "aggressive" outreach to his constituents in Inyo and Mono counties.

Lew Stults has served as Field Representative in McKeon's Antelope Valley Office since 1998. Stults is being promoted to the post of District Director for the Antelope Valley and San Bernardino County and will have added responsibilities. He will continue to be based in the Antelope Valley Office.

"Lew is a veritable pillar of the community in the Antelope Valley and has been a key member of my staff," said McKeon. "Lew's been a fixture of my team and the community for many years and I cannot imagine him anywhere else."

McKeon added that a new Congress was a good time to reorganize his district staff and get some fresh perspectives.
"With a new Congress, this is a good time to reorganize and tackle new goals. We've got some old projects that we need to finish up and there are new projects that I hope to undertake over the next few Congresses and I want a team that will bring both experience and a fresh perspective. Bob and Lew are the best and it is really exciting to be able to bring them together as part of my ongoing work to help the people of the 25th," commented McKeon.

Haueter is expected to take up his new position in mid-January, while Stults' promotion is effective immediately.
