This Friday, September 17, in honor of Constitution Day, Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon’s district offices in Santa Clarita and Palmdale will distribute pocket Constitutions to the constituents of the 25th Congressional District.
“It’s important for all Americans to be versed and understand the Constitution of the United States,” said McKeon. “The Constitution is more than just the Bill of Rights; it contains the manuscript that outlines the structure of our nation’s government, the system of separation of powers through the three branches, and our uniquely American system of checks and balances. There is a timeless quality to the principles laid down in the Constitution by our founding fathers, and it is those principles that provide the fundamental protection of our freedom in America.”

Background:
• 223 years ago on September 17, 1787, 39 delegates from 12 states at the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After being ratified by the 13 original states, the Constitution became our country’s legal foundation on June 21, 1788.
• In 1956, Congress established Constitution week and then in 2004 designated every September 17th as Constitution Day to give our founding document the recognition and respect that it deserves.
