Volunteers sought for school funding oversight committee.
The William S. Hart Union High School District is currently accepting applications from citizens interested in filling vacancies on its Measure V Citizens Oversight Committee. The committee reviews use of funds from the local school construction bond passed by voters in 2001 and reports to the public on whether the funds are spent as required by law.
The Hart District Governing Board established the committee with a maximum of 17 members, who serve for two-year terms and a maximum of two consecutive terms. The current committee member terms will expire on Feb. 29 and some members have chosen not to apply for a second term.

The Governing Board can appoint returning and new members up to the maximum 17 and also would have the option of selecting a pool of alternate committee members who could fill any vacancies that occur on the committee in the future.
The committee meets monthly on the fourth Monday evening, with additional subcommittee meetings as needed. Members represent a cross-section of the community and cannot be employees, vendors, contractors or consultants to the Hart District.
Applications are available at the district office at 21515 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita, 91350, or can be downloaded from the district Web site at www.hartdistrict.org and clicking on “Oversight Committee.” A copy can also be requested by calling 259-0033, Ext. 271.
Deadline for applications is 4 p.m. February 25, 2008.
