You can meet SCV’s new Sheriff’s Captain, Paul Becker, on August 19 at an open house event from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Captain Becker was named the new Chief of Police in March. He was offered the position after completing an interview process involving members of the City Council, the City Manager, and various community leaders.
He brings nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience to our community.

Prior to his assignment as our chief, he served as a lieutenant for the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, overseeing the gang task force, unsolved murder team, and an active murder investigations team.
He has served in several divisions within the Sheriff’s Department including the Contract Law Enforcement Bureau; Transit Services Bureau – Robbery and Assault team; Palmdale, Avalon, Carson, and Lakewood Stations; as well as the Custody Operations Division – Men’s Central Jail.
Captain Becker is a Santa Clarita resident who has committed much of his life to community service and helping others.
“The City is very excited to introduce our new captain to the community and we encourage everyone to attend the open house and share your thoughts and ideas about law enforcement in Santa Clarita”, said Mayor Laurene Weste.
The event will be held at 23920 Valencia Boulevard, in the first floor Century Room in City Hall.
