Newly appointed Sheriffs Captain Anthony La Berge is anxious to meet area residents and business and community leaders at a special “meet the captain” open house slated for Monday, January 29, 2007 from 4 to 6 p.m. at City Hall-Century Room, 23920 Valencia Boulevard, first floor.
Captain La Berge, a Santa Clarita resident, brings more than 20 years of experience with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department to his new post. He formerly served as Captain for the Office of Homeland Security, Transit Services South Bureau where he worked as a unit commander, supervising over 200 sworn and professional staff as part of the dual command for the nation’s second largest transit policing agency. As unit commander, La Berge was charged with providing security and law enforcement services for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus and light rail systems in the southern areas of Los Angeles County.
Captain La Berge began his new post as the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs’ Captain at the beginning of January. He is currently in the process of meeting his staff, City and County officials, as well as residents, community and business leaders.
“It is important that I get to know the community and learn first-hand what the issues are. I look forward to learning everything I can and work cooperatively with the community on solving problems and lowering crime,” explains La Berge.
The open house on January 29 is the first of two “meet the captain” open houses planned, with the second to occur in Canyon Country on February 26, 2007 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Activities Center.
