Mentors, Businesses, Leaders Sought For COC Career Expo

COClogoBusiness and community leaders are being sought for the fifth annual Discovering Careers Expo, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at the College of the Canyons Valencia campus.

Discovering Careers is a free career exploration fair for middle school students hosted by College of the Canyons and paid for by SB70 Community Collaborative grant funds.

Businesss and community leaders are asked to host interactive booths and provide hands-on activities that expose students to diverse career paths. There is no fee to participate. To sign up, simply click here.

Companies who have already committed to the event include Jet Propulsion Laboratory, film and TV costumer Karen Hudson, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, COC welding technology, Los Angeles Mission College forensics, LA County Fire Department, interior designer Kenneth Dean and VIA Promotions.

Students and their parents will be able to interact with community and business leaders representing a variety of industry sectors and career paths. There will be activities and the priceless opportunity to explore, at a young age, what people really do beyond school.
