Metrolink Construction Expected To Impact Sand Canyon Area

Metrolink-Logo_TrainDrivers in the area of Sand Canyon should be aware that Metrolink construction contractor crews will be working along the railroad tracks over the next several months. The construction activities will include earthwork and track construction. The work location will be east, toward Palmdale, of the railroad crossing at A Street.

Starting today, Metrolink will use trucks to transport heavy machinery to the construction site via Lost Canyon Road. Work vehicles, smaller trucks and dump trucks will also access the area on weekday mornings and afternoons between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Metrolink realizes that Sand Canyon is a child-, horse- and pet-friendly neighborhood and crews will take extra care while traveling in the area. In addition, every effort will be made to minimize the disruption by providing a dust sweeper on an as-needed basis.

The construction is expected to last approximately seven months. Metrolink Antelope Valley service is anticipated to be closed over two weekends, but exact dates have not yet been scheduled.
