In one of the worst train disasters in Southern Calfornia, history, hundreds were hurt, and at least 9 people have lost their lives after two Metrolink trains collide….
The accident occurred at 6:03 a.m., involving the Northbound 901 train from L.A. Union Station to Burbank, and the Southbound 100 train from Ventura County.
Preliminary reports say the accident was initially caused by a Jeep Cherokee which was deliberately stopped on the tracks, as the driver contemplated suicide, then fled the vehicle prior to the train’s impact. The northbound train struck, derailed and collided with the southbound train.
One of the victims killed included a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy.
