Newhall teen singled out for improving grades and self.
Jose Meza was recently named “Boy of the Year” of the Newhall
Community Center at a recent volunteer recognition dinner.
Meza was singled our for his outstanding effort, which included improving his grades to the level of being named to the principals Honor Roll at Valencia High
School. He also found mentorship and support for making positive life choices from which he emerged as a role model to other youth at the center.
He also volunteers with several of the programs offered at the center, including the boxing program and Teen Group.

The dinner was held to thank the many volunteers who have helped make the center a success. Additional volunteers are needed to help children with homework, read to children and teach classes. The opportunity to volunteer is extended to teens looking for service hours, retired adults or any individual who wants to give back to the community.
