Microsoft To Offer Free Local Technology Training

khts_technewsThe City of Santa Clarita WorkSource Center, in cooperation with Microsoft Corporation, is now offering free Elevate America Vouchers for E-Learning training courses and select certification exams.

 

“The Elevate America Program provides significant opportunities for individuals who are employed, unemployed or looking to enter into the job market and expand their skills,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “Since the program is offered through our local WorkSource Center, this is a great opportunity for job seekers to gain or refresh their skills, acquire certification and seek potential job opportunities in the local market.”

Microsoft Corporation launched Elevate America in February to offer individuals the opportunity to enhance their technology skills. Accessible through various WorkSource and One-Stop locations nationwide, Elevate America enables individuals to enhance their skills sets via e-learning training opportunities in general skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and more, as well as specific training and certification programs for IT Professionals interested in expanding their knowledge of IT programs.

Voucher registration is available Monday through Friday, with vouchers distributed on Fridays. Vouchers are required to participate in the courses offered, which include:

General E-learning
Self-guided web based training in specific topic areas, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc.

Technical Certification Training
Self-guided web based courses designed to provide the trainee with skills needed to pass the Microsoft Technical Certification Exam. This course includes training in Windows Server, SQL Server, Share Point, and Visual Studio.

Certification Exams
Vouchers cover the cost of exam certificates to obtain certification in Microsoft programs, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.

Vouchers are limited and will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis.

The WorkSource Center offers free services to connect job seekers and employers by providing job seekers with the necessary tools and training opportunities to search and prepare for employment opportunities, and providing employers with access to hundreds of potential employees.

The WorkSource Center also works with local businesses offering a variety of services from pre-screening candidates to available interview facilities and access to Enterprise Zone eligible employees.
