AC Milan, one of the most famous and successful soccer clubs in the world, is coming to the City of Santa Clarita’ s Community Center on Saturday, July 14, 2007 to sponsor two local soccer teams.

To kickoff the Milan USA Academy Santa Clarita edition, AC Milan will bring the Champions Cup from Italy to be on display for all residents on July 14th, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Following the display, all teams in the AC Milan USA Academy, including two Community Center teams, will participate in a club orientation and kick-off celebration from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m

“The Milan Academy is reaching out to Community Center youth with this donation in order to provide low-income youth with this prestigious opportunity that would be otherwise unaffordable for them and also to provide a positive alternative for high-risk youth in the community,” commented City Community Services Administrator Hope Horner.

The Academy is generously agreed to sponsor two Santa Clarita Community Center boys soccer teams. A boys “Under 13” team and a boys “Under 15” team from the Community Center will be a part of the fourteen teams that will join the local academy.

The Milan USA Academy, a component of the Milan Youth Project, will provide local soccer clubs with training, coaches instruction, and top level soccer programing for youth.

This year AC Milan, with the help of international superstar players Ronaldo, Kaká, Filippo Inzaghi, and Paolo Maldini captured the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) Championship Cup with a win over Liverpool from the English Premiere League.

The seasonal soccer club competition, organized by the Union of European football Associations, is the most successful soccer club tournament in Europe. The prize, the European Champion Clubs’ Cup, is considered the most prestigious trophy in the sport.
