KHTS AM1220’s morning man Brandon Gibson got a sweet surprise Monday morning when dozens of minions showed up at the studio.

These minions weren’t here to do any dirty work other than introduce the deejay and listeners to IHOP’s unique menu creations inspired by characters in the movie “Despicable Me,” which is currently running in area theaters.

IHOP guests are invited to take part in the Minion Madness by ordering the craveable, new minion-inspired menu items that include CinniMinions, Loaded Minion Taters, Minion Berry Pancakes and Minionade.

Franko Barrera, the general manager of the IHOP at Soledad Canyon Road at Vilna Drive (with Brandon at right), brought stacks of the Minion Berry Pancakes and CinniMinions for the staff at the radio station to enjoy. Gibson eagerly stepped up for the first bite.

“Wow!” he exclaimed between bites of Cinniminions, before diving in to the pile of lemony flapjacks, topped with berries and whipped cream.

The limited-time Despicable Me menu items will only be available until August 29. They include:

Loaded Minion Taters, a heaping serving of crispy Tater Tot potatoes loaded with cheese sauce, bacon, tomatoes, jalapenos, shredded Jack and Cheddar cheeses and sour cream. Served with two eggs any style and two buttermilk pancakes.

CinniMinions are diabolically-delicious, warm dough bites dusted with cinnamon sugar and drizzled with cream cheese icing; served with a choice of eggs, hash browns and choice of bacon, pork sausage or ham.

Minion Berry Pancakes are concocted of two fluffy lemon pancakes topped with triple berry compote and creamy whipped topping; served with a choice of eggs, hash browns and choice of bacon, pork sausage or ham.

A Kids CinniMinon Breakfast consists of two CinniMinion dough bites, one scrambled egg and one slice of bacon for the little minions 12 and under in your family.

A day of mischief is not complete without an ice-cold glass of Minionade – a sweet and tangy strawberry lemonade topped with colorful sprinkles. Available in regular and kid sizes.

The Minion madness continues online at IHOP.com, a Minionized homepage and a microsite at www.ihop.com/despicableme complete with interactive games and downloadable promotion elements. Guests can also enter the Minion Madness sweepstakes online for a chance to win a grand prize trip for four to Universal Studios Orlando or Los Angeles, as well as other amazing prizes including a Nintendo DS, “Despicable Me” videogame for Nintendo DS and much more.

The film “Despicable Me” follows Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), as he plans the biggest heist in the history of the world: to steal the moon.
