Jahun Smith of Mission Valley Bank has been recognized as “Most Trusted Advisor – Business Banker” by Valley Business Journal. On Aug. 13 the Trusted Advisors Awards Reception at the Universal Hilton honored Smith with this award.

Smith is the third consecutive honoree from Mission Valley Bank to win this award since it began in 2011. In 2012, Marianne Cederlind, senior vice president and chief business banking officer, won the same title. The award was first presented in 2011 to winner Tamara Gurney, president and CEO of Mission Valley Bank. Gurney won an additional “Trailblazer” award.

“Jahun has successfully built his portfolio through referrals by creating an environment of reciprocity where he works to connect the business community to each other, creating positive results for everyone,” Gurney said. “He prides himself on the strength of his customer relationships and developing a lasting rapport with each, which has earned him his role as a Trusted Advisor.”

Smith achieved this award due to his personal client/relationship approach. His customers range from small to mid-sized businesses in the Los Angeles area, especially entertainment, manufacturing and professional service industries.

Bachelor’s degree in communications from San Diego State University and more than two decades of banking experience give Smith a solid background. This combination contributed to his success recognized by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal award.

Smith now manages the operations and production of the bank’s headquarter office.

Not only does Smith excel in his professional environment, but he also is committed to his involvement in the community. He is the treasurer for both the Rotary of Sun Valley Club and the Rotary Foundation of Sun Valley. Smith is also an active member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.

The San Fernando Valley Business Journal event acknowledges the work of accountants, bankers, attorneys, insurance professionals and wealth managers in the greater San Fernando Valley region. The “Most Trusted Advisor” award is given to trusted advisors in each discipline.
