This local organization is raising funds to help families affected by cancer.

In keeping with a Club tradition, the MOMS Club of Saugus will bake and sell goods at the popular pumpkin patch Lombardi Ranch “bake shack” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 10.

The Club has chosen to split the proceeds between the Christian and Zicree families, who’s children are dealing with cancer.

Brandon Christian, age 4, was initially diagnosed with clear cell sarcoma tumors of the kidney.

He had one of his kidneys and lymph glands removed when he was 2 and went through months of chemotherapy.

In January of this year, doctors discovered that the cancer had settled in tumors over his lungs.  His grandmother Sascha adopted him last year and since March has essentially been living at City of Hope.

As Brandon continues his treatment, his grandmother has been with him, which has left her unable to work.

One-year-old Allison Zicree, who has a rare type of bone marrow, is fighting an aggressive leukemia.

She just finished her third round of chemotherapy and her mother, Nicole, lost her job recently after her family leave benefits ran out.

Those interested in supporting these families through the MOMS Club of Saugus can help by purchasing goods or making a donation at the bake sale; or by sending a check payable to MOMS Club of Saugus with Zicree or Christian in the memo field of the check.

Last year, the MOMS Club of Saugus gave $1,200 to help the Fierro family with medical expenses.

The MOMS Club is an international nonprofit corporation designed to provide support for at-home mothers.

The organization, formed in 1983 by a mom from Simi Valley, has grown to include more than 100,000 members in chapters all over the world.
