Monthly Book Club Encourages Better Education

khts_inthecommunity2The Betty Ferguson Foundation (BFF) holds its monthly book club at 10:30 a.m. at the Valencia Barnes & Noble.  The selection for August is A Free Life by Ha Jin, the widely-acclaimed, award-winning author of Waiting and War Trash. The novel follows the Wu family as they fully sever their ties with China in the aftermath of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre and begin a new, free life in the United States.

The BFF book club, or B.A.B.E. (Books And Better Education), features a small group atmosphere designed to stimulate thought, share ideas and learn something new.  Mags Kelly, the book club facilitator, brings these B.A.B.E.’s together once a month to review that month’s book club selection.  The selections can be viewed on BFF’s website in advance.
