Monticello Preparatory School has nixed plans to relocate to a home off of Hasley Canyon Rd. in Castaic, opting instead for a larger site in Newhall.

The school is already preparing for the move into a former private school site on Valley Street in Newhall, and they say that the location will be fully operational in time for the fall semester.

“One of the most important benefits of the new school is that we have room for growth now,” said Rebecca Cranert, owner of Monticello Preparatory School.

Monticello Preparatory had been in at the center of a highly publicized push to convert a home in Hasley Canyon to a new school site. Los Angeles County originally approved the plans; however they reversed their decision after neighbors complained. The school had been fighting to get approval ever since.
