Officials and local industry heads team up with KHTS to help mortgage holders.
Monday night, homeowners were invited to City Council chambers for a free seminar on mortgages. The evening was organized Congressman Buck McKeon’s office, the California Association of Mortgage Brokers, Southland Regional Association of Realtors, KHTS, and the Los Angeles Neighborhood Housing Services.
It was made clear beforehand that the seminar would not include any sales pitches or solicitations. The meeting was intended to be confidential, and it served to answer questions homeowners had regarding their mortgages.
Foreclosure rates are climbing, and while information was available to those already in it, there was also a great deal of talk about how to stay out of foreclosure.
California Association of Mortgage Brokers incoming President Fred Arnold spoke to homeowners in attendance, as did Mary Funk from the Regional Association of Realtors, who was joined by LANHS Counselors.
Nearly an hour was set aside at the end of the meeting for residents to ask questions of the officials in a both a public setting and confidentially on a one-on-one basis.
