A Valencia man was killed Wednesday afternoon on the I-5 when his motorcycle struck a vehicle near the car pool lane.

Aaron Braden, 29, was riding a 2007 Suzuki GSXR 750, traveling northbound on the I-5 just south of the junction of the 210 freeway. According to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Rick Miler, Braden was splitting traffic lanes between the high occupancy vehicle (car pool) and the #1 lane.

“Traffic was slowing,” Miler said. “A vehicle crossed over the double yellow line of the HOV lane, hitting the motorcycle and Braden was ejected. As he was ejected, he struck the rear of another vehicle, suffering fatal injuries.”

Miler said the bike continued to move and struck another vehicle. He added that several reports of Braden traveling at a high rate of speed is under investigation.

The accident, which happened at 4:15 p.m., snarled traffic for several hours.
