Motorists Brace For Traffic Delays

The Old Road at Magic Mountain Parkway will undergo construction.

[view:node_ad=5]Beginning Saturday, January 19, 2008, motorists traveling along the Old Road and Magic Mountain Parkway will experience construction delays, as the next phases of the Interstate 5 / Magic Mountain Parkway Improvement Project are underway.

Vehicle flow along the Old Road north and south of the Magic Mountain Parkway intersection will be condensed down to one lane of traffic in each direction, with left turn lane pockets available for motorist to access surrounding businesses.  No curbside parking will be available in front of the businesses. The Old Road realignment phase is anticipated to last up to six months.

Additionally, the northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp at Magic Mountain Parkway will be detoured until the second week of February for utility improvements as part of the Interstate 5/ Magic Mountain Parkway Improvement Project. During this time, traffic will be temporarily diverted onto Wayne Mills and Tourney Road, then back to Magic Mountain Parkway.

ImageLastly, motorist traveling eastbound on Magic Mountain Parkway from the southbound ramps of Interstate 5 will experience only one eastbound lane open as they proceed underneath the freeway past the northbound ramps.  Two westbound lanes will remain open.  This lane change will last until the second week of February.

Please check the City of Santa Clarita’s website at www.santa-clarita.com or call the project hotline (661) 290-2297, for any extended major lane closures, detours, or news associated with the Magic Mountain Parkway Improvement Project.
