An attempt to arrest a murder suspect wanted by the LAPD resulted in traffic tie-ups and inconvenience this morning in Canyon Country.
The Los Angeles Police Department Special Weapons And Tactics team convened at a house on Flo Lane, blocking nearby Rainbow Glen Drive around 7:30 a.m., just before rush hour and traditionally heavy school traffic.
According to Lt. Mark Hershey from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station, LAPD officials called the sheriff’s department around 10:30 last night requesting that they check the home for a suspect wanted in a murder case from LAPD’s jurisdiction.
Out of safety concerns for deputies, it was decided to have LAPD do their own warrant service with their SWAT team. Sheriff’s deputies were in the area to provide backup and traffic control.
The officers fired gas canisters into the suspect’s alleged residence, but after an hour, it was determined that he was not in the house and the operation was dismantled.
