New Emergency Underground Radio Developed

Los Alamos National Laboratory has developed an underground radio designed to locate trapped miners or help emergency crews communicate with each other during disasters.

According to an article in the August 25, 2006 edition of Radio Ink's on-line newsletter (www.radioink.com), the nuclear weapons lab announced that it has signed with Vital Alert Technologies to market the technology. Joe Miller, president & CEO of Vital Alert, said he started his company to find a wireless solution to emergency communications shortly after the September 11 attacks.
