New Event At Hart Park Invites Art, Music, Craft Participants

The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation and Friends of Hart park are looking for artists, crafters and musicians to participate in the inaugural new series, “Music ‘n the Park” that will take place three Sundays in September in the picnic grounds of William S. Hart Park.

The event is free and will feature musicians of all genres, including salsa, meringue, Latin jazz, pop, rock, hip hop and karaoke, as well as several booths featuring local arts and craft items.

“This is an excellent opportunity for regional artists and crafts persons to showcase and sell their creations on the picnic lawns at William S. Hart Park,” said Albert Ewing, event coordinator for Hart Park.

Ewing and Friends of Hart Park have issued a call for vendors in all media, performers and amusements. Booth fees are $35 for a 10’x15′ space and home artists and crafters are encouraged to participate.

The series will take place from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 6, 13 and 20. Attendance is free.

The music featured will vary by the date; on Sept. 6, it’s salsa, meringue, cumbias and Latin jazz; Sept. 13 is pop, rock, hip hop and karaoke in the park. On Sept. 20, karaoke will be the main act..

For details, contact Ewing at his office in Hart Park; (661) 259-1750 or aewing@parks.lacounty.gov.
