Gary Buterbaugh, Owner and Executive Producer at High Impact Event Resources, developed the show for three reasons: “First, I became aware of the huge number of individuals turning to home-based businesses as an alternative to employment, as a supplement to under employment or to supplement inadequate retirement funding. Now with so many veterans leaving military services, self-employment has become their only option for a variety of reasons.
“Secondly, during my involvement with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), it soon became obvious that home-based entrepreneurs are constantly in search of useful information, sound advice, expert assistance and moral support,” said Buterbaugh. “And lastly, I appreciate the help I received from the SBDC and want to be sure they can continue to help others.”
“To meet the needs home-based business owners, the event offers a strong educational component specifically addressing issues they face every day. Our unique seminar series, Biz@Home University, is a series of 12 non-commercial sessions developed with the aid of the SBDC and The City of Santa Clarita Economic Development Department, all presented by experts. The second track, Biz@Home Showcase, presents sessions for those interested in learning more about the business opportunities, products and services available to home-based entrepreneurs.”
Sponsoring the event are KHTS AM1220, The Santa Clarita Signal/SCVBusiness Journal, City of Santa Clarita, BusinessOpportunity.com, Via Promotionals, the SCV Chamber of Commerce, and Community Partner, HotSpot SCV.
The Small Business Development Center at College of the Canyons will benefit from a portion of the profits. Part of the California Small Business Development Network, the SBDC provides individualized no-cost consulting and low cost assistance and programs for small businesses, and may be reached at (661)362-5900.
