The City of Santa Clarita is proud to announce the opening of another new section of the Cross Valley Connector on Golden Valley Road.
The new segment will open June 15, 2005 at 10:00 am. Road opening ceremonies will be held for the newest portion of Golden Valley Road at 10:00 am at the corner of Golden Valley Road and Sierra Highway. The grand opening event is free and open to the public. No RSVP is necessary. The roadway will be open to traffic immediately following the ceremony.
The roadway, located at the eastern-most portion of the Cross Valley Connector at Sierra Highway, is approximately a half mile long. With the addition of this segment, four-and-a-half miles of new roadway will have been completed since the Cross Valley Connector project began.
The $245 million Cross Valley Connector, scheduled for completion in 2008, will provide a new eight-and-a-half mile roadway option between Valencia and Canyon Country, and will serve as a direct connector between the I-5/SR-126 and SR-14. The Cross Valley Connector presents a convenient alternative to Soledad Canyon Road and will ease traffic valley-wide.
“We are so excited to be opening this new section of roadway,” said Mayor Cameron Smyth. “We are making rapid progress on the Cross Valley Connector and we are pleased that the community will benefit directly.”
