New Helicopters For Fire Dept. Fleet

Los Angeles – To enhance trauma patient transportation services, wildland fire fighting and rescue services, the Board of Supervisors unanimously authorized the purchase of two new helicopters and associated equipment, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

The two new Bell 412EPs will replace helicopters that were manufactured in 1981 and are susceptible to high maintenance costs and downtime.  Replacing them will enhance the overall reliability and operational readiness of the District’s helicopter fleet.
