Captain Paul Becker, recently named as the new Chief of Police for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, officially took over command Monday morning. Captain Becker brings 30 years of law enforcement experience with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to his new post.
Paul Becker was named as Chief following interviews with members of the City Council, the City Manager and community members held at the beginning of the month. Becker replaces Sheriff’s Captain Anthony LaBerge who has been promoted to Sheriff’s Commander. LaBerge served as the Chief of Police for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station since 2007.
His 30-year service record includes operating in contract law, transit services and robbery & assaults team in the Palmdale, Avalon, Carson and Lakewood stations, as well as in Men’s Central Jail. Most recently he served as Lieutenant for the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, gang task force, unsolved murder team and active murder team.
