Canyon Theatre Guild replaces old plywood stage.
[view:node_ad=5]After having the same stage for 35 years, Canyon Theatre Guild executives decided it was time for a renovation. The Guild’s Executive Director and Artistic Director TimBen Boydston said that the improvement had been a long time coming. “We have been meaning to modify the stage, but we haven’t had the funds until now.”But the old stage isn’t entirely gone. While in construction, executives decided to keep almost half of the old stage, and cover it with a composite plywood surface.
Boydston also said the new stage will enhance the theatre’s musical performances. “In our musicals, we have a lot of dancers, and dancing on the old stage sounded like a drum. It was so loud.” The new floor has insulation packed under the composite plywood, which will help quiet the excess noise.
And after years of anticipation, 4 days of construction, and $20,000 dollars in fees, the new stage is ready to go.
